Mixxx Hercules Dj Control Instinct P8

The Hercules DJ Control Compact is a simple controller for basic two-channel mixing. This device does not have a built in sound card, so it would require a splitter cable or separate sound card to be able to preview tracks in headphones. It also does not have buttons for routing decks to headphones. Oct 14, 2017  I own a Hercules DJ Control Instinct P8 since more than half a year and in January 2017 I've started to bring together some code for the MIDI mapping for this really nice unit. I didn't finished yet because I don't have the time to spend on it. So I upload the mapping as is (not completed) but still working nice for the main functions. The Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2, MP3 LE, and Glow are USB controllers that have identical controls and share the same mapping. These controllers do not have a built in sound card, so a splitter cable or separate sound card is recommended for use with it. They are not class compliant MIDI devices.

The Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2, MP3 LE, and Glow are USB controllers that have identical controls and share the same mapping. These controllers do not have a built in sound card, so a splitter cable or separate sound card is recommended for use with it. They are not class compliant MIDI devices. Older versions of Mixxx required using Hercules' MIDI driver, but this driver can be a hassle to set up and maintain on Linux, so it is recommended only for Windows and Mac OS X. Another alternative is to use the user mode driver, or also upgrade to the latest version of Mixxx if you have not already. Support for using the MP3 LE and Glow as USB Bulk controllers without the driver on Linux is available in development versions of Mixxx and will be included in Mixxx 2.1, but the MP3 e2 was already supported in Mixxx 2.0.

The mapping is included in Mixxx and allows you to manipulate 4 decks, 2 at a time, switching Deck A (left) between Channel 1 and 3 and Deck B (right) between Channel 2 and 4.

Users of Hercules products on Windows and OSX have had functional drivers available from Hercules Website for a long time, and can use the mappings already shipped with the current versions of Mixxx.

Under Linux, there are three options, depending on the controller that you use: Kernel module, user-mode driver or HID mapping.

On Feb 16, 2009 - Hercules released GPL Linux MIDI drivers for their Hercules series of DJ midi controller devices. In response to this wonderful development, the Mixxx team released an updated build of Mixxx for Linux - 1.6.1+Herc. Thanks go out to Hercules for supporting their Linux users!

Later on, the development halted and newer Linux versions broke the support. From then on, other community member have been keeping it in working condition. Check out more information in the Hercules Linux kernel module page.

Aside of the kernel driver, there is an user-mode driver which supports a different set of controllers
